What’s Going On – Hudson update, new ‘Potter’ trailer

28 Oct

Happy Tuesday, y’all!

*shudder* I’m a little creeped out this morning.

Anybody else watch “Paranormal State” last night? Holy creeptastic, Batman! I very rarely watch that show – my heart belongs to the TAPS team – but I happened to catch it last night. EEK!!! Talk about scary!!!

Also, I’m streaming “Nightmare Revisited” – it’s a tribute for the “Nightmare Before Christmas” soundtrack. So far I’m kind of 50/50 on it. You’ve probably already heard Marilyn Manson’s terrific take on “This is Halloween.” Other good covers include Korn’s “Kidnap the Sandy Claws” (I’m surprised how much I liked it!), The Polyphonic Spree’s “Town Meeting Song” and DeVotchKa’s “Overture.”

You can stream it for yourself here.

Hey! Don’t forget to send in your Halloween photos! E-mail ’em in to todd.vinyard@djournal.com.

News!

  • Here’s an update the murders of Jennifer Hudson’s mother, nephew and brother.
  • The Killers is touring next year, with closest dates in Nashville and Atlanta.
  • Here‘s the new “Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince” trailer.
  • There’s new “Dr. Horrible” merch available, including a shirt that says, “We do the weird stuff” and a Hammer shirt that says “This is not the hammer.” Genius!

What haunted houses do you know about in the area. Like the fake ones. Not Waverly Mansion type.

The first one that comes to mind is the Haunted Forest and House in Hurricane – which I know about well since I’m from Pontotoc County. We featured it on Scene a while back; the story should be easy to find.

Besides that, TCT will host a Haunted Theater.
The Haunted Trace is out at the Tupelo Baseball park.

Check out the Scene section in Thursday’s Journal for more…but that’s a start!

Thanks alot. I grew up in Columbus and the police department would host one every year in this abandoned house in the ghetto. They were always extremely scary and very entertaining. A few years back a tornado destroyed the house. No more haunted house. Very sad. I’ve never been to one anywhere else that was even close.

Aww, that’s too bad – hopefully some of these others will live up to that one!

dude, we are so in tune! lol. Have you listened to it? If so, what do you think? I’m kinda 50/50 on it — some of it was awesome, some of it left much to be desired. But that soundtrack is so great, so legendary, even now, that I think it would be hard to beat it..

same here…i love the manson song in particular…several songs just aren’t as good or don’t add anything to the original, ya know?
