In the Arena, 9/26

25 Sep

BY TODD HUNT

We’re busy turning the arena into the Hundred Acre Wood in eager anticipation of Winnie the Pooh’s arrival. And might I say, the stage that we’ve built seems to be large enough to hold all one hundred acres! Anyway, Pooh comes to town Friday, September 26, with one show at 6:30 p.m. Hope to see each of you there.

I had planned to spend this week explaining our budget and how it works in light of the recent mini-controversy that played out at City Hall. However, the demise of the Scene as we know it will instead be my focus. Maybe in a future blog I’ll go into excruciating detail about the budget. I know all you bean counters can’t wait for that one…

Anyway, it is with much sadness that I bid farewell to the Scene as a tabloid. It has been a valuable resource for us here at the Arena to help spread the word about what’s going on in the facility. We hope that it can find new life as both a part of the regular paper and online. The only constant in life is change, right?

Come see us this weekend for Winnie the Pooh. Next week we will be hosting the Tupelo Fair on our east parking lot, which should prove to be interesting. I promise to share more details on that event as we get them. If only we could bring Elvis back to recreate his 1957 fair performance…

Until next time,

Todd
