In the Arena, 8/29

29 Aug

BY TODD HUNT

The subject of this week’s blog was to be my favorite Canadian bands of all time; however, a storm named Gustav has intervened.  For those of you that don’t know, we serve as an emergency Red Cross shelter during natural disasters.  As of Thursday, we still don’t know if we will be needed or not.  The current plan is to continue monitoring the storm and make a decision on Saturday.

Needless to say, we have begun our preparations for shelter use.  During Katrina and Rita the facility served as a shelter for 21 consecutive days.  We are hoping that this stay (if it has to happen) will be much shorter!

So that’s what’s going on in the arena.  Maybe I can share my top Canadian acts with you next week.  Will Bob & Doug McKenzie make the cut?  The suspense builds…

Until next time,

Todd
