Scene Picks

19 Jun

What to do this weekend? Here are some options:

  • The circus is coming to town! Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus starts tonight at the BancorpSouth Arena. Check out Scene for more.
  • Juneteenth is all day Saturday in Ballard Park. Scene has the story.
  • The Mid-South Browncoats are putting on “Can’t Stop the Serenity” this Saturday in Memphis. I’ll have a full story on this on the blog later today.
  • M. Scott Morris and Paul Stone both thought “The Incredible Hulk” was more “pretty good” than “incredible.” What do you think? It’s playing now across NeMiss.
  • Two shows this weekend full of local bands:
Betrayal, Goodbye Monroe, City Sleeps, The Fuzz and Forever and Never are at Goodtime Charlie’s at 7 p.m. Friday. $10.
Order of Opinion (this week’s Local Band of the Week!), Dead Line (the farewell show!), Sophia, Revival! Revival!, Between Hope and Faith and The Fight Between Frames are at Musician’s Playground Saturday at 7:30 p.m. $7

Here’s another event happening this weekend that we couldn’t fit in Scene:

Music Masters Studio Inner Circle is having a hands-on drum bootcamp for serious drummers.

The bootcamp is Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. at Sky’s the Limit Church (839 Shell St., Tupelo). Drummers can play along and get tips and tricks on drumming. It costs $20. Call (662) 401-3976 for more.
