In the Arena, 3/28

28 Mar

Thanks for the responses to my question in last week’s blog.  A couple of you mentioned TNA Wrestling, which was something we had already been looking into.  That leads me to ask which event you would rather see:  TNA or WWE?

We’re still working on possible concerts for the rest of the year.  Summer is the hardest time to fill for us for a couple of reasons.  Acts tend to play festivals and amphitheaters during the summertime.
Couple the lack of available shows for arenas with the fact that much of our population takes vacations during the summertime, and it’s becomes a much riskier proposition for us to promote concerts during the summer months.  However we’re still looking for an event or two that could work for us.

Thanks to those of you who came out to see the Mudcats annihilate their opening day opponent last Saturday.

Kickoff for this week’s game against Florida is set for 7 p.m. Saturday.  Tickets are on sale now.  Hope to see you Saturday night.

Until next week,

Was at the game Saturday and had a great time. As far as wrestling goes, I’d rather see TNA if it’s not a Raw TV taping. The Smackdown house shows are horrible because the talent sucks. The upper level Raw stars usually don’t make the smaller house shows. I’d love to see Angle, Christian, AJ Styles, and Sting in Tupelo. Might even be able to get a PPV from TNA.

i’m with farley662 if you can’t get WWE Raw or a TNA PPV don’t bother
house shows suck, and smackdown lacks the talent, plus alot of people around here don’t get the channel that smackdown comes on ,on friday night. i don’t.

WWE tapings are hard to come by these days, hence the house shows we’ve been playing over the last few years. Is there any interest in a TNA house show or does it have to be televised?

Thanks for the comments. My wrestling days ended with Handsome Jimmy Valiant back in the 80’s…

i agree with rmiller and farley662…. except on one thing… TNA house shows are the opposite of WWE house shows… i have been to 2 TNA house shows, one in birmingham and the one in corinth(which corinth needs new sound equipment because we couldn’t hear entrance music or announcers the whole time). but the show quality and match quality was like PPVS… TOTAL NONSTOP ACTION… i heard about a rumor of TNA doing another house show in corinth in june.. and they usually do house show runs close to a ppv.. and the june ppv is Slammiversary(which I saw last year in Nashville for their 5 year anniversary and it highlights the King of the Mountain match).. it would make sense for TNA to do a ppv close to their house show runs. The ppv could be in Nashville again, Memphis, Birmingham or even Possibly Tupelo at the BCS Arena…. which holds what 7000 to 8000 people for Wrestling or sporting events.. that is perfect for TNA… they usually draw 2500 to 4500 at their ppvs on the road…
