Scene Picks

13 Mar

Here’s what’s going on this weekend…tell us what you’re doing!

  • Corinth’s Saving Abel is doing double duty this weekend – two shows on Saturday. There’s one in Corinth and one in Memphis. Read this week’s Scene to find out how you can see the band.
  • Scene’s M. Scott Morris liked “10,000 B.C.” alright, but Wizard 106’s Kelli Karlson was having none of it. See if you like it – it’s playing across NeMiss in theaters now.
  • Get your art on this weekend at Marimekko. Earl Dismuke, a recent B.F.A. sculpture grad of Ole Miss, will have a solo exhibition Friday at the gallery starting at 6:30 p.m.
  • The Drive-By Truckers will perform at the New Daisy in Memphis Saturday. Tickets are $20 and doors open at 7 p.m. – click here for more.
  • For a show close to home, check out Fairlane at the Shannon Sports Bar. The band will perform 8 p.m. Saturday and cover is $5.
  • Don’t forget about the special Hamburger Hobos/Bowzer show hitting Columbus this weekend. The Hobos have only a few extra copies of their debut, “Hobosexual,” and they’ll be on sale at the show. About 9 p.m., Saturday, the Princess in Columbus, $5.
  • Benjamin’s on Main in Tupelo will host the Spunk Monkees with Mojo Biscuit upstairs. According to their MySpace bulletins, they promise lots of free give-aways and a good time indeed.
