Scene Picks

31 Jan

What’s going on this weekend?

All this stuff!

  • Scene’s M. Scott Morris and the Wizard team were not very impressed with “Rambo.” See it for yourself to decide – it’s playing across NeMiss now. Read Scene for the review.
  • Kathryn Brawley is performing this weekend at Musician’s Playground. Playground owner Brian tipped me off to Brawley. Not only was she a joy to interview, but I’m really enjoying her music on her Web site. Check her out on Saturday night and read Scene to learn more about her.
  • The men of Crossin Dixon welcomed me to Rick’s a couple weeks ago for an interview. Now the group is playing at Rick’s on Friday night. See Scene for the story.
  • The Fiery Furnaces are performing at Proud Larry’s in Oxford Tuesday.

And a clarification…

As I’ve said before, doing the music grid in Scene is tricky business. Sometimes we get conflicting info from both the band and the venue owner, and then sometimes we don’t get enough information at all. We go, though, on what we’re given from a source we trust.

That generally tried-and-true method failed us this week, though. Vysion will not be playing Good Time Charlie’s this weekend. Ned Funk, featuring guys from Vysion, is performing.

Sorry for any inconvenience.

Rambo was awesome! I watched it after a couple of margaritas and thought it was the bees knees.

Any ideas when the Crossin Dixon guys are set to release a CD? We saw them with Jason Aldean at the Hump and they are great. My wife loves them. Thinks the lead singer is a hottie.

    Hey farley,

I had the impression a Crossin Dixon CD would take a little bit of time. The guys are still on the road (they were leaving for, I think, Colorado the day after our interview), and they’ve got to get the music perfect before heading into the studio. Maybe by the middle or end of 2008?

That sucks. Got both of there songs from Itunes and they are good. They put on one heck of a show.
