What’s Going On – Buffy, Hot Chip, Kanye

30 Jan

OK. Normally I do my big news posts first thing in the a.m., but today’s been a strange day. These news bits may smell a little funny, but trust me, they’re quite fresh.

  • If anyone out there really, really loves me, they’ll buy me a ticket to this TV festival which includes, among other things, a “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” cast reunion and “An Evening with Judd Apatow.”
  • One other Buffy-related thing and then I’m moving on, promise: BuffyWorld.com has all the shooting scripts up. I highly suggest fans check out the script for Drew Goddard/Jane Espenson’s “Conversations with Dead People,” one of the best Buffy eps ever. Originally, it was planned that the First would come to Willow as Tara, not Cassie. The script details how that would’ve went down. But Joss Whedon thought that would be too cruel to do to Tara and her fans, so he decided it would be Cassie instead (this from the man who killed Jesse in the first episode and then Doyle mid-season of Angel, just to remind fans that anyone can die at any time). Beware – many a Kleenex are required.
  • OK this is only slightly Buffy-related: James Marsters talks “Torchwood” and “Smallville” in this interview.
  • Kanye West is taking Rihanna, N.E.R.D. and Lupe Fiasco on tour.
  • Want to hear Hot Chip but don’t want to spend the moolah? Click here to stream the band’s new album.

ha ha! i really can’t diss them. i was about 6 or so when they hit it big — i used to fight about which one was cuter with my fellow kindergarteners/first graders. so, in a way, they hold a special place in my heart…yet at the same time i have absolutely no desire to hear any new “hangin’ tough”-ish tunes.
