Video clip o’ the day

14 Jul

After seeing “Dark Victory” a few years ago, I became a huge fan of Bette Davis.

Since then I’ve been trying to see every Bette Davis movie ever made, and tonight I just finished seeing another one of her fabulous films — 1934’s “Of Human Bondage.”

“Of Human Bondage” focuses on Philip (Leslie Howard), an artist-turned-med-student, and whose club foot doesn’t win him a lot of affection. He’s MADLY in love with Mildred (Davis), but she doesn’t give him the time of day — unless she needs something.

By the time this fabulous scene rolls around, Philip has helped Mildred many times. Their game of give and take is getting old, and they’ve both had enough.

By the way, when “Of Human Bondage” was released, Life Magazine said Bette Davis’ performance in this film was  “probably the best performance ever recorded on the screen by a U.S. actress.”

Bette Davis is one of movie-makings greatest icons of film – a real classic actress.
