Rhinestone shades and cheap sunglasses

6 Jun

Music and movies are just dandy, but they’re even better when they’re thrifty.
Luckily for the fundage-impaired lot of us, there’s some pretty good entertainment deals going on.

The beautiful Orpheum Theater in Memphis screens classic films every summer, and the line-up for this year has something for everybody.  What’s even better: adult tickets are just $6.  Yeah, you’ll have to drive to Memphis, but the gas to get up there isn’t THAT expensive.  Besides, you’re paying a pretty cheap price to see fantastic movies in a gorgeous theater. Don’t complain.
Here’s the schedule:
“Breakfast at Tiffany’s” — June 15
“Casablanca” — June 29
“Raiders of the Lost Ark” — July 6
“The Sound of Music” — July 8
“The Rocky Horror Picture Show” — July 13
“The Color Purple” — July 15
“Goldfinger” — July 20
“Gone with the Wind” — July 27
“The Godfather” — July 28
“The Land Before Time” — July 29
“The Wizard of Oz” — Aug. 3
“The Ten Commandments” — Aug. 5
“Caddyshack” — Aug. 9
“The Phantom of the Opera” (silent) — Aug. 10

Too broke to buy “FutureSex/LoveSounds” by Justin Timberlake?  Still coveting your friend’s copy of the new Rascal Flatts disc cause you’re lacking the necessary monies? You’re not the only one.
Luckily, iTunes is selling a bunch of their biggest-selling albums for just $7.99.  You name it — My Chemical Romance, the Strokes, Fall Out Boy, Damien Rice, Ludacris, Death Cab, Common, Pink Floyd…you name it, they’ve got it for that really cheap price.  Take them up on this offer.
*sigh* If only this price were the norm.

Missed the MTV Movie Awards? Yeah, me too.
If you’re dying to catch the highlights, visit the station’s site (www.mtv.com).  They’ve got clips upon clips of the show, so that should satisfy your needs.

Sheena, I wonder if the Orpheum will allow Rocky Horror freaks to bring in water guns, rice and newspapers and allow them to dance around and recite the movie word-for-word?
